Boosting Your Website’s Traffic Using Backlinks

In our previous article of this series, we have learned how sharing our website’s link on social media can bring us more visibility on search engines. Now in this article, we’re going to learn how backlinks can bring us more authority and ranking for our website. So let’s begin.

What Are Backlinks?

Backlinks are anchor texts with a link attached to it. The link is directed towards a targeted web page for more information regarding the website’s content or other purposes.  Backlinks, in another way, can bring more visibility of a website in search engines.

In other words, it is a method of connecting two different web pages with each other. However, it can be of two types.

Types Of Backlinks

There are two types of backlinks, one is Internal and another one is external. Both of them are different from each other.

Internal backlinks connect two different web pages of the same website with each other. For example, if you are on a blog website, you’d see many internal backlinks. This is because the author doesn’t want you to go away from your website after reading that particular article. It can be of another page, or another article and much more. Note:- Almost on every website, you’d find Internal one because it is the basic building block of a website.

External ones mean it connects two different web pages of two different websites. This is mostly because website owner/author wants you to check the other website which might not fit as content within theirs. Or it can be a friendly/paid shoutout to another website owner.

How Can Backlinks Rank Up A Website In Search Engines?

Search Engine Result Page

As mentioned above, they’re the building block of a website. When a search engine crawls a particular website, it crawls for almost everything on the website which includes the hyperlinks mentioned in it. This includes both external and internal ones. The internal one is used by crawlers to identify web pages and it’s title by various mean. Because if you look carefully, you just submit your domain name to the search engine but it ends up crawling all web pages. This is because of the hyperlinks mentioned on the website.

So in case if you link a different website, Google ends up crawling that too. So the more backlinks you have on different websites, the more Google considers you as “famous” hence the more it ranks you up. This is how backlinks can be beneficial for your website and it brings more authority for you.

How Can I Get Backlinks On Different Websites?
